Four men from Charlotte County have been arrested and police are searching for a fifth person after a home invasion.

RCMP said they were called to a residence in Oak Bay, near St. Stephen, at around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Investigators learned that five people had forced their way into the home while the homeowners were there.

One person was armed with a weapon and allegedly assaulted one of the residents, who suffered minor injuries.

“The suspects fled the scene with undisclosed medications prior to police arrival,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

A short time later, officers returning from a community meeting came across the fleeing suspects and arrested them.

A 19-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old man remain in custody, while a 62-year-old man has been released with a future court date.

Officers are still searching for a fifth person in connection with the incident. No details about the suspect have been released.

“Police believe that this was a targeted incident, and there is no risk to public safety,” said the news release.
