Shuniah Fire & Rescue Services are investigating the cause of a structure fire at the Lakehead transformer station on Lakeshore Drive in Shuniah.

Fire crews were called around 6:00 pm Wednesday evening after a construction trailer caught fire outside the secure area of the transformer station.

On-site workers were attempting to extinguish the fire with snow using heavy equipment on-site. They assisted with the operation once firefighters arrived by clearing snow that was inhibiting access.

The blaze was under control around 6:50 pm. No other structures were affected, and no injuries were reported.
