Looks like Dolly Parton will not be up for induction for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She surprisingly withdrew from competition in a statement feeling that she is not worthy and that she doesn’t feel she’s earned that right yet.

So many artists from different music genres are inducted every year in the Hall because rock and roll is basically a mixture of all kinds of music, including country. Parton did branch out into pop and rock music in the 70s, but said that country music is at her core and she hopes she will receive the honor in the future. Parton ended up as one of the nominees on a list for induction to the Hall along with 16 other artists like Beck, Kate Bush, Eminem, Lionel Richie and others and did well in public votes.
