What do bars / restaurants / 4am / and the World Cup of Soccer have in common?

Drinking til 4am.

Ontario is loosening things up for the FIFA World Cup this summer. The province announced that from June 11 to July 19, bars and restaurants can keep pouring until 4 a.m. That’s a full two hours past the usual last call, all so fans can enjoy every ounce of World Cup energy.

The idea, according to the province, is simple: let people soak in the atmosphere, support local businesses, and keep that tournament buzz rolling late into the night.

Toronto’s hosting six matches between June 12 and July 2 — the latest ones start at 7 p.m., but with games across North America, some matches won’t start until close to midnight.

I’m a fan of going out, having some drinks, and sure – I can push it until 2am. BUT, 4am? WHY? I wake up weekday’s at 3:35am for work…I guess I can make it to the bar for last call? That’s crazy.

What do you think? Is 4am taking things a bit too far?
