This is the time of year when College and University graduations are underway. 

May 28th / 29th – Lakehead University
June 5 – Confederation College

Did you hear what happened at North Carolina State University last week?  Over 170 students who were set to graduate, received quite the surprise.

The commencement speaker, Anil Kochhar, surprised the graduating students during his speech…where he announced that he and his wife Marilyn, in honour of his father – would cover all the final-year education loans of the students.  The majority of the students received Bachelor degrees, while over 20 of them received their Masters.  

They had an entire year of debt, literally wiped away.  Anil said, “Marilyn and I hope that all of you leaving here today, not only with a degree, but with greater freedom to pursue your goals, take risks, and build the lives you’ve worked so hard to achieve”.  

Anil’s father emigrated from India to Raleigh, North Carolina…80 years ago, and owned a global textiles company.
