Last week – we got some big feel‑good news for the arts community — the new Thunder Bay Art Gallery just got a huge boost.

The RBC Foundation’s Community Spaces Grant is donating $200,000 to help build accessibility features in the new waterfront gallery.

From gently sloped entrances to wider pathways, and design that makes it easier for everyone in our city to enjoy art — kids, seniors, folks with mobility challenges, you name it. The Art Gallery’s Executive Director – Matthew Hills, says the goal is simple: a space that’s welcoming, seamless, and built for all of us.

RBC’s Andrea Barrack says Thunder Bay is one of over 40 projects across Canada getting support as part of a national push to modernize community spaces — from better signage to wider doors to greener, more sustainable buildings.

It’s another step toward a gallery that reflects who we are: creative, inclusive, and always moving forward.
