Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock after slapping him at the Oscars. The statement came the night after the broadcast and in it Smith said that his behavior was “unacceptable and inexcusable” and was “not indicative of the man I want to be.” It all happened with a hair joke Rock said about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who has the hair-loss disorder alopecia. An angry Smith walked on stage and gave Rock the slap heard ’round the world, with words from Smith that were censored, and further talk about the incident on social media.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences condoned Smith’s actions and launched a review of the incident with possible consequences to be imposed at a later date.
