As more and more events are transitioning back to being in-person, an international championship is one of them and it’s coming to Thunder Bay.

The 2022 Canadian National Martial Arts Championships & Festival will welcome participants and on-lookers from around the world over the course of four days.

From July 28-31, the event is supported by The City of Thunder Bay’s CEDC (Community Economic Development Corporation), Ontario Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries. The event is hosted by WushuOntario.

There will be lots of competitions over the weekend, as well as a Kung Fu Master’s Performance Gala.

In an email to Acadia News, it was stated that Thunder Bay was the destination of choice because of the “large demographic of Tai Chi practitioners who utilize the martial arts for health and recreational benefits.”

Details on location or ticket sales are not yet available.
