The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority  (LRCA) measured between 64 and 107 centimetres of snow as of April 14th.

That’s a new high compared with the same time period dating back to 1974.

The average amount of snow for this time of year is between six and 26 centimetres..

A Flood Watch was issued Friday by the Authority for Thunder Bay, Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah as well as O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies and Dorion Townships.

20 to 30 millimetres of rain could fall over the next 24 hours, and there’s a potential for thunderstorms, producing an additional five to 10 millimetres.

Snow melt and runoff are also causing flooding concerns.
