Two pilots attempted a one-of-a-kind mid-air “Plane Swap” that didn’t quite go as planned. The pilots, also cousins, Luke Aikens and Andy Farrington would jump out of each other’s planes unmanned, while in mid-air and land in and pilot the other’s aircraft to a safe landing. The swap, sponsored by Red Bull, ran into a problem. Aikens was able to make the jump to one plane and land safely, but the other plane spiraled out of control and crashed while Farrington parachuted to safety. No one was hurt and the FAA is investigating.
