The OPP say two investigations on the Weagamow First Nation are not connected.

One of the incidents took place early Friday morning just after 1 am.

A youth was brought to the nursing station with serious injuries.

He was later pronounced deceased.

The Sioux Lookout OPP is continuing the investigation.

The second incident took place shortly before 9:30 Friday morning.

Police were responding to the sound of gunshots being fired.

After an extensive search a 25-year-old man from Weagamow was arrested and faces a pair of firearm charges including reckless discharge and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He’s currently being held in custody and will appear in Thunder Bay Court on the charges on Wednesday.
