Two projects in Thunder Bay have the financial backing of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
Thunder Bay-Superior North Member of Parliament Patty Hajdu
Patty Hajdu, Thunder Bay-Superior North MP, and Marcus Powlowski, Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP, were on hand Thursday at Sleeping Giant Brewery to unveil $570,250 for both the local brewer and Countermeasures Security Solutions Incorporated, which manufactures automated gate assemblies and gate security services for residential, industrial and commercial use.
“Strong local economies rely directly on local businesses and manufacturers,” said Hajdu, who is the Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
“As they work to rebuild and overcome the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will ensure they have the resources they need to expand, create jobs and plan for the future. This will help create 30 local jobs while building capacity to support two Thunder Bay businesses as they scale up and modernize their operations.”
$100,000 is going to Sleeping Giant Brewery while the portion of funds going to Countermeasures Security Solutions totals $470,250.

“This will help unleash the economic potential of two local manufacturers with high-growth potential,” noted Powlowski. “These projects with Countermeasures Security Solutions and Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. are great examples of how technology and innovation are helping local businesses capitalize on new opportunities while supporting jobs, growth and a strong economy.”
