The 2026 municipal election is officially over, and the results will now be tabulated.

At stake at the polls is a referendum on whether the city will continue along the path its last council charted, or if a lineup of fresh faces will take things in a new direction.

At minimum, the city will be welcoming five new councillors and a new mayor.

Going into election day, the city attracted an impressive turnout of early voters: 14.6 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots over the past week.

The election discourse has been dominated by discussions of homeless and addictions, public safety, housing, infrastructure maintenance, and the use of green spaces for development.

More to come…
