Thunder Bay-Superior North Member of Parliament Patty Hajdu welcomes the newly-tabled Bill C-21.

The minority Liberal government unveiled the bill on May 30th with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stressing it contains some of the strongest measures ever to keep guns out of communities and build a safer future for everyone.

Hajdu, in a statement Friday, stressed that the legislation does not propose changes to the laws that would restrict guns used for hunting and sport shooting.

“I will never hesitate to support actions that will improve the safety our communities, and I look forward to working with my colleagues from all parties to ensure that this legislation reflects the needs and expectations of Canadians in Thunder Bay—Superior North and across Canada,” Hajdu added.

The bill is undergoing second reading in the House of Commons.
