An article from BLOGTO shared a list of the most ‘affordable houses’ across Canada.  Thunder Bay made the Top 10.

Earlier this week, I also saw a story that a household income of $220,000 is required in order to purchase a home in Toronto.  The average price of a home in the GTA is $1.2 million.  Sure, you have access to major league sports, more concerts etc.  But.. $1.2 million?  Are you kidding me?  I honestly don’t know how young families can even make a start in the Toronto area….if that’s what they choose.

Saguenay, Quebec is the ‘most affordable’ city in Canada, with the average price for a home around $267,000.

Thunder Bay was #7 on the list.  Average home price:  $358,000

Right now, the cost of borrowing for a house is higher, due to the higher interest rates.  I remember my Dad telling me at one point (late 70s, early 80s) interest rates were close to 20%.  Could you imagine?

If you factor house prices all across Canada, the average home price is about $800,000.
