An order has been issued by the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC) that the Special Administrator stay on with the Thunder Bay Police Services Board (TBPSB).

The order extends the role of Malcom Mercer as the Administrator and sole vote for the TBPSB.

Originally taking control of the board in Oct. 2022 after a report that was filed on Aug. 18, 2022 by an Independent Expert Panel depicting that the police service and it’s board is in a state of emergency.

A release from Tribunals Ontario says that Mercer will stay on as Administrator to see the transition of the TBPSB and the Service for when a new Chief is selected.
