Following the passing of Southern rock star Gary Rossington, the CMT Music Awards on Sunday night gave a star-studded tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd to close out the show.  The Skynyrd tribute featured ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Slash, Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers, Cody Johnson, and former Allman Brothers Band members Chuck Leavell and Warren Haynes for a tribute to the late guitarist. LeAnn Rimes and Wynonna Judd were the backup singers, the Honkettes.  They performed two songs beginning with “Simple Man” and then going into “Sweet Home Alamaba.”  The celebration comes 50 years after the launch of the band’s debut album.
