It looks like parts of southern New Brunswick will see even more heavy rain to wrap up the week.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement late Thursday afternoon for the following areas:

  • Fundy National Park
  • Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County
  • Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
  • Saint John and County
  • St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County
  • Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County

Heavy showers and thunderstorms will spread from west to east starting near dawn on Friday, according to the statement.

“This will give moderate to heavy rainfall amounts, especially for areas near the Fundy Coast,” it said.

Forecasters said most areas will see 30 to 50 millimetres, but thunderstorms could give amounts of more than 80 millimetres.
