One person is in the hospital after police and firefighters found them unresponsive in the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue say city police called them to the floodway at the Thunder Centre at an unspecified time to help rescue someone from the water.

They say the person was semi-conscious and floating face-up in the middle of the floodway.

A firefighter tethered to the shore swam out to them with a floatation device, and police and firefighters helped pull the person back to safety.
