There are plenty of events for young people to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day in the city.

It’s celebrated every year on the summer solstice, June 21st.

The city’s Program Supervisor for Children and Youth, Nina Arcon, explains there are activities happening all day for anyone aged 12 to 24, including videos and virtual events.

Arcon adds they’re working with local Elders for each of the events, which aim to help recognize Indigenous peoples’ resiliency and contributions.

“We really target the youth in Thunder Bay to get involved, especially those who are looking to learn more about Indigenous cultures,” Arcon says.

Youth can sign up for the activities on the city’s Facebook event page.
