The Halifax Regional Police are investigating a possible hate crime that happened at Africville Park Last week.
Officers responded to the incident at around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday. Someone had found a rope hanging from a tree that is believed to have been intended as a noose.
Members of the Hate Crime Unit are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area to contact the police.
The park is located on the former grounds of historic Africville, a once thriving black community that was destroyed by the city in the 1960’s.
