Wildfires, floods and now Hurricane Lee forecasted to make landfall in the Maritimes this weekend…Canadians are concerned about climate change.

Over 1500 Canadians were polled by Leger between September 9 and 10 about climate change.

The results:

  • 70% were worried
  • 74% who believe climate change is causing extreme weather events, even higher among women (80%), those aged 18-34 (78%) and Quebecers (84%)
  • 74% also believe whoever pollutes more, should pay more.
  • 68% intend to make changes to their daily habits due to these worries, while 61% already have made changes. Women and those between the ages of 18-34 seem more inclined. (75% and 74%)
  • 40% of Canadians would make changes to their behavior even if it comes at a financial cost, 50% in Quebec
