Residents in New Brunswick are preparing for the arrival of Lee.

It’ll move into southern New Brunswick Saturday morning with heavy rain, high winds and large waves.

Environment Canada says it will weaken quickly Saturday night, and there will be lingering conditions on Sunday.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County in New Brunswick.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the New Brunswick Fundy Coast including Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick and Saint John and County.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre adds the circulation of Hurricane Lee will be quite broad so impacts will occur not only near the track but up to 300 kilometres away from it.

Winds of up to 120 kilometres an hour are possible in some areas, which could result in tree damage and power outages.

The heaviest rainfall is now through central New Brunswick with upwards of 100 millimetres possible.

Lee could cause more widespread floods.

Twenty-foot waves are possible for the Atlantic coast, and a storm surge warning may be required.
