It was a special day when a few local volunteers got some recognition from the province.

Nova Scotia Volunteer of the Year awards were awarded to:

• Alvina Robichaud, for the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth
• Mary Eldridge for the Town of Yarmouth
• Darryl Leblanc, Volunteer of the Year for the Municipality of the District of Argyle

Sixty-seven volunteers were recognized at the 49th annual awards held Monday.
