A failed attempt by the City of Saint John to have Local 486 striking and picketing activities deemed illegal.

The City took the issue to a judge yesterday.

Both parties’ legal counsels have now agreed to a consent order acknowledging the workers charter protected right to strike and picket.

The consent order will remain in force until October 3rd, so negotiations can continue.

Union president Brittany Doyle says they are very close to reaching an agreement.
