Residents in part of Saint John’s south end are being asked to shelter in place until further notice.
It comes as several city fire crews battle what has been described as a “significant” structure fire at the corner of Charlotte Street and Harding Street.
“Due to heavy smoke in the area, the Saint John Fire Department is recommending that residents in the area shelter in place, limit time outdoors, close all windows and doors, and turn off ventilation systems,” the city said in a statement.
An emergency alert was also issued for residents in the area shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday.
More to come.
