It’s National School Bus Safety Week October 16-21.

Motorists are reminded that when the lights on a school bus are flashing and the stop arm extended, you have to stop at least six meters away.

If you are in front or behind the bus.

Nova Scotia Education and Early Childhood Development says 5,000 people a year are charged with illegally passing a stopped school bus.

You could get fined up to $410 and six points on your license.
