City council received its requested Transit Services Safety and Incidents Report, which does not include incidents reported to the police.
At the April 3, 2023 Committee of the Whole meeting, a deputation was heard from ATU 966 and a resolution was passed referring the contents of the deputation to Administration and the Employee Safety Task Force for review and follow-up.
The resolution also contained a report back date of October 16, 2023, resulting in the information being delivered to city council last night
According to the report, there were a total of 1,067 “Negative interactions” on public transit between January 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023,
The different occurrences of “negative interactions” have been classified into different categories, acts of aggression, assault, bodily fluid, fair dispute, harassment, intoxication, sexual harassment, and verbal altercations.
The report was broken into tables which highlighted slight inconsistencies in the numbers reported between tables.
