Another scam is targeting Thunder Bayers on social media.

City police got word recently about somebody who lost $1,000 to a fraudster posing as a family member.

They say you could get a message from a Facebook or other social media account that seems to belong to someone you trust.

The scammer may try to convince you they need money, and instruct you to send it to them.

They say to either ignore suspicious messages, or independently contact the person the account appears to belong to, ideally face-to-face.
