Long-term residents will soon be able to spend more time with friends and family.
Ontario will start easing restrictions on Wednesday, July 7, which will include residents being able to visit with up to 10 people oudoors and the allowing of two general visitors and two caregivers indoors.
The province will also enable personal care services and cohorting of residents will be relaxed during outdoor activities.
“We’re giving homes the time to put in place these changes in a safe fashion,” said Rod Phillips, Minister of Long-Term Care. “These changes are only possible because of the cooperation of all Ontarians, the incredible efforts of our long-term care staff, essential caregivers, and most importantly residents for getting vaccinated.”
The Minister added as of Tuesday 99% of long-term care residents are fully immunized across Ontario.
When it comes to staff in long-term care, more than 92% have their first dose and 84% have had both doses.
Phillips also confirmed all visitor limits will be removed once Ontario enters Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopen.
