A vehicle explosion on the American side of the Rainbow Bridge near Niagara Falls has prompted evacuations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved.

In a statement the FBI says it is coordinating with law enforcement partners in the United States as part of the investigation.

Calling the situation very fluid at this time.

Meanwhile, Ontario Premier Doug Ford stating on social media he too is aware of the situation and provincial law enforcement is actively engaged and assessing the situation.

The explosion comes just before the American Thanksgiving Holiday gets underway.
