If you were planning a backyard fire, you’ll have to wait at least a few days.
The city is issuing a ban on all open recreational fires starting first thing Saturday morning.
It’s in line with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s Restricted Fire Zone declaration due to the high fire risk in the region.
Residents can still use propane fire bowls and heaters, pizza overs, and barbecues, but are being asked to be cautious using any device or activity that could cause a fire.
If you violate the ban, you will face prosecution and substantial fines.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue will announce when the fire ban and suspensions are lifted.
