The Sussex Santa Claus parade is this Saturday and will be the biggest parade the town has seen so far.

The parade committee says there are 71 registered parade floats compared to the average of 50 floats.

Community services officer Roberta Craft said the theme for this year’s parade is “Songs of Christmas.”

“Christmas parades aren’t really as enjoyable without music, so that was picked just for the fact that we love to hear and see music,” said Craft.

“We want the people to be able to stand and watch it, be able to dance and hum along to songs, so that’s exactly why it was picked. We’re not saying what you have to play or sing, we just want to be open for everyone to have a good time.”

The parade will start at the 8th Hussars Sports Centre at 6:30 p.m. It will travel along Main Street and end at Walmart.

There will also be a sensory-friendly section located near Sussex Elementary School in the area of Morrison Avenue and School Street.
