Kenora city council has settled on a 4.22 percent increase in the municipal budget for 2024.
Council held a special meeting Monday afternoon to go over the capital and operating budget.
There was some good news.
The city will save $308,000 it had budgeted for the Northwestern Health Unit levy.
It came in less than expected.
Council has agreed to split the savings with half going towards reducing the tax burden on tax payers and the other half going toward infrastructure project council had chopped to save money.
Council has agreed to pass the capital budget on December 20th, but hold off on the operating budget until final levy increases come in from the Kenora Homes for the Aged and the Kenora District Services Board.
