Residents of an east Saint John neighbourhood are asked to shelter in place as police respond to a weapons call.

Saint John police said it received a report of armed individuals entering a residence on Alma Street near Park Avenue.

“The residence has been contained by officers. Nearby residents are asked to shelter in place,” police said in a news release around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the situation does not meet the criteria for an emergency alert at this time.
