Over 600 people are working to restore power across New Brunswick following Monday’s high winds.

NB Power reported nearly 15,400 homes and businesses without electricity as of 10:10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the utility’s website, crews are working to repair more than 530 separate outages, mainly in southern New Brunswick.

There are 6,279 customers impacted in the Kennebecasis Valley/Fundy region, 3,445 in the Kings/Queens region, 3,212 in Charlotte Southwest, and 2,452 in Central York/Sunbury.

The utility is also reporting sporadic outages in the Greater Moncton region, as well as Sackville/Port Elgin.

“We will continue to relocate crews to areas of greatest impacts, as we restore scattered outages throughout the province,” spokesperson Clayton Beaton said in an email Tuesday morning.

Beaton said over 51,000 homes and businesses had experienced an outage as of early Tuesday morning, with a little over 32,000 customers impacted at the peak

The Saint John Airport reported a peak wind gust of 104 kilometres per hour on Monday, according to Environment Canada.

Wind gusts also exceeded 80 kilometres per hour in Sussex and Fredericton, the national weather agency said.
