Provincial Police say they’re seeing clear signs many drivers aren’t following traffic rules, as fatal collisions involving commercial vehicles are on the rise this year.
OPP responded to 32 fatal crashes this year, up from 23 at this time last year.
Heading into the second half of the year, there have been nearly 3,000 crashes involving a commercial vehicle. That’s up nine per cent over 2020 and accounts for close to 13 per cent of the total collisions on OPP-patrolled roads.
Improper lane changes, following too closely, speeding and driver inattention have been the leading factors in the year’s large truck-related collisions.
