Post-secondary schools in Ontario beginning to announce their guidelines when it comes to unvaccinated students in the fall semester.
Seneca College made an announcement Tuesday, stating all students and school employees will have to be fully vaccinated if they want to attend campus in person.
While they were the first school to place restrictions on unvaccinated students and staff, they are definitely not the last.
Lakehead University spokesperson Brandon Walker said in a statement:
In order to ensure a safe, accessible, and enjoyable residence experience this fall, Lakehead University will require students living in residence to have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination with plans to receive a second dose.
Students arriving who are unable to access a vaccine may contact Residence Services to assist with making arrangements. Students wishing to live in Lakehead’s Residences who, for medical or other reasons, cannot be vaccinated may request an exemption.
All students, faculty, and staff have been encouraged to get their vaccines as soon as they are eligible and able, although this is not being made mandatory.
Lakehead University continues to adhere to health guidelines that help diminish the spread of COVID-19, which may include self-screenings, masking, physical distancing, and hand-washing. If public health units advise differently, we will make adjustments.
Confederation College spokesperson Katherine Brooks said in a statement that a formal announcement from the college will be made this week.
