Multiple burn and smoke inhalation injuries were reported after a fire at a Saint John tent encampment on Saturday evening.
Platoon Chief Ed Moyer said firefighters were dispatched just before 8 p.m. and arrived at the scene near the Main Street on-ramp to Route 1.
“The first arriving crew found the fire and asked for additional engines and tanker truck due to a shortage of water in the area,” said Moyer.
“Nine firefighters responded with one command staff.”
Moyer said one male was found with serious burn injuries and transported to the Saint John Regional Hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by police and fire officials.
