Metallica will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their classic The Black Album with a special reissue on September 30th. There will also be a compilation, The Metallica Blacklist, with 53 artists with covers of their favorite song on the album. You’ve got tracks from Weezer, Cage the Elephant, and many others as well as Darius Rucker, Mickey Guyton and Chris Stapleton. Jon Pardi‘s cover of Wherever I May Roam was released, and it’s a big departure. It comes pretty close to the original, dark and includes a fiddle solo at the end. All money from the sales is split between Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation and a charity selected by each artist(Pardi is helping the Doug Flutie Jr. foundation).  What do you think?
