Jagmeet Singh is paying a visit to Thunder Bay during his week-long tour of Indigenous communities.

He spoke with attendees at a sacred fire hosted at Lakehead University Monday night, and took part in a sharing circle.

Earlier in the day, Singh met with officials in Neskantaga First Nation along with Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus and NDP MPP Sol Mamakwa.

They discussed the community’s 26-year-long boil water advisory, which they call “shameful.”

His schedule originally included a visit with wildfire evacuees at the Valhalla Inn for Monday night, but that was delayed twice before ultimately being rescheduled to Tuesday morning.

Later in the week, Singh will head to Burnaby, Merritt, Kamloops and Penticton.
