Some areas of Nova Scotia are in for a long, snowy stretch of weather.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for eastern parts of the province including Cape Breton.

The forecaster is calling for two periods of significant snowfall this weekend.

Up to 20 cm is expected from Friday evening into Saturday night.

So far, there is uncertainty about accumulations for the second round Sunday through Monday.
