The Saint John Police have arrested a 22-year-old man following a collision and fleeing from police.

Police reported on Sunday, February 4, at approximately 3:00 a.m., a red Hyundai Accent collided with a concrete barrier westbound on Highway 1 near Exit #119.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle after it exited the highway and turned onto King Street West. The vehicle failed to stop and officers discontinued their pursuit.

The Hyundai Accent was then located after it collided with a utility pole on Ludlow Street. The 22-year-old male driver and a 21-year-old female passenger were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police stated the driver was discharged from the hospital and arrested for fleeing from police, dangerous driving, and breach of a court order.

The driver was also charged with driving while suspended under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Officers are asking for witnesses or anyone in the area who has dash-cam or video footage of the incident at the time it occurred.
