The Halifax Regional Municipality has passed the budget for 2024-25, which increases the municipal property tax rate by 6.3 per cent.

That’s an average of $214 for a single-family home in the municipality, according to a graph provided from the municipality.

Mayor Mike Savage says he thinks the budget committee did well with developing the budget. But he says things may need to change.

“We need a new formula to fund municipalities,” says Savage.
