Atlantic Canada and Quebec is getting a new fishery.

The department of fisheries and oceans announced that they would reopen a mackerel fishery in the area.

MP Mike Kelloway says the fishery will start this spring and will have a personal limit of 470 tonnes.

The commercial fishery in Atlantic Canada and Quebec will still be banned.

The government is reopening the fishery because, according to Kelloway, the population is recovering  in a good way.

More to come…
