A tense day for parents, teachers and student in Halifax today.
One school was evacuated and one school was dismissed early.
École secondaire du Sommet
Students and staff were evacuated from École secondaire du Sommet reportedly due to a potential bomb threat.
Families were notified that all students are safe, and the school is working with police on next steps, according to Stéphanie Comeau, spokesperson for Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP).
The security of students and staff is the school’s top priority and the school has taken necessary measures to ensure their well-being, according to a post, written in French, on the school’s Facebook page.
Halifax West High School
Police say they responded to a report of threats at Halifax West High School at about 10:50 a.m., according to a news release.
Police say they were on the scene.
The school was also reportedly evacuated by a bomb threat.
Students at the school were were sent home because of a message written in a bathroom stall, according to Lindsey Bunin, spokesperon for Halifax Regional Centre for Education.
“The safety of students and staff is our highest priority, and all threats are taken seriously,” writes Bunin in an email.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police.
