The emergency department at the Strait Richmond Hospital will be closed Sunday night.

Nova Scotia Health announced the temporary closure in a news release early Sunday evening.

The ER is expected to re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, according to the release.

Anyone with urgent medical needs is urged to contact 911. For non-urgent care, contact your primary care provider.

Residents can also contact 811 for general health advice and information from experienced registered nurses 24/7.

Meanwhile, the ER will also be closed from 7 a.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thursday, and again from 7 a.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday (May 13).
