The Ontario Provincial Police says allegations of an attempted abduction are not true.

The alleged incident is believed to have happened on Saturday night.

The Facebook post claims nine women were abducted in an attempt to bring them into the United States.

It also claimed that a group of East Indians were behind the attempt.

The post suggests the women were rescued when they yelled out at the border, leading to the arrests of those involved.

An OPP spokesperson says they and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection are aware of the post but tell Acadia News that the incident did not occur.

The OPP were to provide further information in a media release.

The release has not yet been issued.

The allegation comes amidst a heightened awareness of human trafficking promoted by area agencies and the forming of a coalition involving representatives from both sides of the border to confront it.
