Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes.

Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible.

Not only is there a risk of tornadoes and wind gusts up to 100 km/h, Environment Canada says heavy downpours and nickel sized hail are possible.

A line of thunderstorms is expected to push eastwards through northwestern Ontario this afternoon or early this evening.

The main threats with these thunderstorms will be strong wind gusts and the possibility of tornadoes.

In addition, the moist airmass will allow for storms to produce heavy downpours.

The tornado watch is in effect this afternoon and early this evening and is for the Kenora, Fort Frances, Dryden and Sioux Lookout areas.
