The province is taking steps to curb the use of cellphones in schools.
Starting in September, students must turn off their cellphones during class time and store them out of sight.
Elementary school students will have to store their phone away for the entire day.
Middle and high school students may be able to use their phones under limited exceptions.
Education Minister Becky Druhan says this will help students stay focused and support teachers.
There will be protocols for students to be able to get in touch in case of an emergency.
Phones will also be banned in bathrooms and changing rooms.
Nova Scotia joins Ontario, B.C. and Quebec in restrictions around cellphone use in schools, New Brunswick is also rolling out a policy in September.
More to come…
